When AkzoNobel’s International® brand prepared to launch Chartek ONE, their next-generation passive fire protection coating, they needed a flagship hero video that would cut through the noise of the energy sector and clearly communicate a highly technical message to a global audience of specifiers, engineers, and fabricators.
The Challenge
Chartek ONE represents a significant evolution in epoxy passive fire protection — simplifying application into a single-coat, mesh-free solution without compromising performance. The product is the result of more than a decade of R&D and builds on technology first developed for NASA’s Apollo program.
The launch required a high-impact video that would:

Our Approach
Wax Digital led the project from concept to delivery over a three–four week period, working in close collaboration with AkzoNobel’s global marketing team.
Storyboard & Script
We developed a clear narrative structure based on the launch guidelines, combining historical context, product innovation, and proof of performance. The script balanced technical accuracy with emotive storytelling — setting a confident tone for the campaign.
3D Visualisation & Animation
To bring the product benefits to life, we produced a series of custom 3D animations and motion graphics, showcasing fire protection performance, mesh-free application, and the product’s role across the lifecycle of energy assets. These visuals allowed us to communicate complex concepts with clarity and impact.
Editing & Delivery
The final film combined bold typography, confident voiceover, dynamic animation, and hero imagery to match the updated International® brand system. It was delivered in multiple formats for global campaign use across web, social media, and events, including the high-profile ADIPEC launch.
The Outcome
The Chartek ONE launch film became a centrepiece of the global campaign, helping position AkzoNobel at the forefront of passive fire protection innovation. It effectively communicated the product’s benefits to multiple audience clusters — from business managers to applicators — and reinforced the “Never compromise” positioning across all channels.
